This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

The cuckoo clock Molesworth Walter Crane Books

I can see people having a sentimental attachment to this book if they read it at the right age in childhood. It is sweet, magical, and has little "lessons" to learn. But as an adult reading this for the first time it just feels like a poor man's Alice in Wonderland. It also reminds me a bit of Five Children and It (another "lessons" story), but again I liked Five Children more. That isn't to say this isn't readable, but really I'd only tell a friend to read it if they are looking for a nice little story for their children.

The cuckoo clock Molesworth Walter Crane Books Reviews

Gaining self-knowledge and confidence, the importance of relationships, the balance of fantasy and reality--these are some of the themes in this classic, yet often forgotten, children's tale. Terribly lonely, Griselda is guided into the fantasy world of her aunts' knick-knacks and bric-a-brac, until finally she gains real friends, better friends, better even than a cuckoo in a clock. An enthralling story that was later eclipsed by lesser works about girls named Alice and Dorothy. Not to be missed.
Definetly not a Horology oriented reference. After reading the first few pages I have discarded this book for time with a reference manual.
loved this book as a child--now it seems nit very imaginative.
Very good
This book was read to me as a child and I loved (LOVED) it! I spent years - decades actually - trying to find it again. Finally found it and it was as marvelous as an adult as it was as a child. It is a real treasure!
This was the first book I truly remember reading, and then reading again, as a child. My 7-year old daughter has started the book now, and seems to love it too. Great details for the imagination and just enough excitement to keep you coming back.
Great Kids story about how a little girl finds a needed friend and some helpful advice all with the aid of the Cuckoo.
